After its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in the "Directors' Fortnight" competition, the film "To A Land Unknown", co-produced by "Metafora Production" and directed by the talented Palestinian filmmaker Mahdi Fleifel, has been nominated for the official Centrepiece competition at the 49th Toronto International Film Festival, taking place from September 5 to 15, 2024.

The film narrates the tragic story of Shatila and Reda, two Palestinian refugees' friends from Ain al-Hilweh. Stranded in Athens, they dream of escaping to Northern Europe for a better life.

After they fall victim to a scam, losing their immigration funds, the two friends fall into deception and unexpected challenges as they struggle to recover their money.
At the end, Shatila finds himself forced to choose between his freedom or his friendship with Reda.

"To A Land Unknown," has gained significant attention since its debut at Cannes Film Festival.  The Film has been invited to over 50 international film festivals worldwide, including, San Sebastián, Sarajevo, Shanghai, Melbourne, London, and others. The movie has earned an impressive 100% artistic rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.3 out of 10 on IMDb, reflecting its global critical cinematic impact.
